Small business operators are the busiest, most productive people on the planet. In part that's because they are always thinking about business, and so for fun they often like to watch the show Shark Tank, which is about business, of course.
I like to watch it, too, as does my son, and he actually came up with the idea for this blog post.
He wondered if companies that had been in the tank were good about their blogging.
I wondered, too, so I set him to work. (I hope I'm not admitting to any violations of child-labor laws here!)
He went through as many businesses as he could before it was his bed time, and figured out if they have a blog or not.
I then took his list and stuck it into a tool that I use (and love) called BuzzStream.
So, using my son's list I was able to figure out how well a site does based on if the company is good about blogging. The list below is ranked by Google's Page Rank, but I also included numbers from SEO Moz (which I also love).
You can see for yourself, but it's pretty clear that the companies that blog are the companies that have the sites that do the best.
Getting on Shark Tank is great, but for a company to do well in the long run, it needs to blog and blog regularly. If you are just too busy to write your own blogs, maybe think about hiring us? We'd be honored to go to work for you!
I spent years as a writer and editor, and wrote a nonfiction book before starting BlogMutt with Wade back in 2011. I love words, and I love working with the amazing staff and dedicated writers of BlogMutt who also love words, and know the power that they have. Also, this quote: "I love deadlines," Douglas Adams said. "I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by."
