Math & Science Academy

Math and Science Academy was ranked the #1 best high school in the state of Minnesota (#203 nationally) by U.S. News and World Report. According to USN&WR, they rank schools “based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college.”

Math and Science Academy’s mission is:

“To offer intense math, science and technology experiences and challenging opportunities in the arts and humanities. To develop lifelong learning skills, including critical thinking, leadership skills, volunteerism and collaboration with peers.”

They do so by offering rigorous courses in math, science, humanities, music, and art, including ten AP courses. MSA also requires their students to take six consecutive years of Spanish. MSA students averaged 28.5 on their ACT in 2016.

Busing, provided by South Washington Schools, is available to students living within District #833 boundaries. Students outside the boundaries must provide their own transportation.

This small, public charter school serves students in grades 6-12. Although it is considered a tuition-free public school, students must apply for admission. Admission is granted by lottery. Students who are not granted admission will be put on a waiting list. Siblings of current students are given priority for admission. Woodbury High School

Nationally recognized Woodbury High School is one of the consistently top-rated schools in the state of Minnesota. Having earned kudos from U.S. News and World Report (ranked #16 in Minnesota and #707 nationally in 2017) and Newsweek (#45 in the nation in 2014), WHS continues to exceed state and national averages in ACT and AP scores. The national ACT average composite score is 20.8, whereas Woodbury High Schools average score was 23.6 (with 99% of juniors enrolled at WHS taking the exam). WHS offers sixteen AP course, four language courses (Spanish, German, French and ASL), and a variety of electives.

Busing, provided by South Washington Schools, is available to all students living within District #833 boundaries. Please note that students living within two miles walking distances are not eligible for bus transportation.

East Ridge High School

East Ridge High School, one of the newest high schools in the Twin Cities metro area, was built in 2009. It boasts the latest in technology available in an education setting. Currently, 77% of the teaching staff holds Masters degrees or higher. This combination has helped ERHS rank #19 in the state and #934 in the nation on the U.S. News and World Report Best Schools list. ERHS juniors averaged 23.6 on their ACT in 2016. It also offers one of the few PLTW Biomedical Science programs in the state, as well as AP and CIS classes.

East Ridge High School focuses on its four pillars: academic rigor, activities, relationships, and technology. All staff policies, decisions, and interactions are made in respect to these four pillars.

Busing, provided by South Washington Schools, is available to students living within District #833 boundaries. Please note that students living within two miles walking distances are not eligible for bus transportation.

East Ridge High School is CLOSED to intra/inter-district transfers, due to capacity level. New Life Academy

New Life Academy is the only private school in Woodbury city limits. This K-12 Christian school was established in 1977, along with New Life Church. The tuition rate is variable, depending on income. Top tuition rate for the 2017-2018 school year is $11,085, for grades 9-12.

The school focuses on scholarship, leadership, and service. It offers a variety of academic electives, including AP, CIS and PSEO. NLA has one-day to one-week long Experiential Learning Excursions, including a week-long mission trip to Costa Rica. Community groups, made up of 10-15 students and at least one staff member, helps foster safe and enriching relationships. And enrichment opportunities, such as mock trial, ski club, and athletics allow students to explore interests and develop skills outside the academic arena.

In order to attend New Life Academy, at least one of the student’s parents must be a Christian and agree to support and comply with New Life Academy’s statement of faith. In addition, the student and at least one parent must be current and active members of a Christ-centered local church.

Busing, provided by South Washington County Schools, is available to students living within District #833 boundaries. There is also a bus stop for students in Hudson, Wisconsin.
